Women’s hair thinning, PCOS and thyroid concerns: what oil can support

Summary (read this first)
A widening part, reduced ponytail volume or persistent shedding can have several causes. Female pattern hair loss, recent illness, childbirth, thyroid disease, iron deficiency, medication changes, traction and polycystic ovary-related androgen changes do not have one shared solution.
Hair oil can support scalp comfort, softness and protection from dryness-related breakage. It cannot correct hormones, restore thyroid function or replace evidence-based treatment for female pattern hair loss.
Why diagnosis matters
Dermatologists assess the pattern of loss, scalp signs, hair-shaft damage and health history. Depending on the case, a clinician may consider blood tests or other investigations. The correct work-up is individual; a broad online checklist is not a diagnosis.
PCOS can be associated with excess androgen signs, irregular periods and scalp-hair thinning. Underactive thyroid can also include dry hair or hair loss. Both need clinical assessment and appropriate medical care.
Shedding is not always thinning
Temporary excessive shedding may follow fever, surgery, childbirth, major stress or weight change. It can appear months after the trigger. Female pattern hair loss usually presents differently and may coexist with shedding. Breakage creates shorter snapped fibres rather than hairs shed from the root.
Standardized monthly photographs and a symptom timeline can help a clinician, but home photographs cannot identify the cause by themselves.
A supportive routine
Use gentle shampooing based on scalp needs, avoid repeated tight hairstyles and reduce high-heat styling. Eat a balanced diet and avoid taking high-dose supplements without a confirmed need. Persistent or progressive thinning deserves professional evaluation.
Seek prompt care for sudden patches, pain, burning, pus, heavy scale, eyebrow loss or scarring.
How Vihira fits
Vihira 360° may be used as a cosmetic oil when the scalp tolerates it. It is not described as a DHT blocker and does not treat PCOS, thyroid disease or hormonal hair loss. Use 8–10 drops, massage gently for 5–10 minutes, leave overnight if comfortable and cleanse regularly. Stop if irritation occurs.
A scalp routine should complement—not delay—medical evaluation when symptoms are persistent or progressive.
