Summary (read this first)

Pumpkin seed oil is often discussed in hair-loss content, but the research is easy to misrepresent. A frequently cited 2014 randomized trial studied an oral pumpkin-seed supplement in men—not topical pumpkin seed oil and not Vihira.

A later randomized study compared topical pumpkin seed oil with minoxidil in women with female pattern hair loss. It is relevant but limited, and it still does not prove that every pumpkin-containing cosmetic blend blocks DHT or treats hair loss.

The 2014 oral study

Participants swallowed a supplement for 24 weeks. Because the route, dose and product differ from a scalp oil, the result cannot be transferred directly to a topical cosmetic formula.

Calling that paper proof for a retail hair oil would overstate the evidence.

The topical study

The later study provides human topical evidence, but one study does not settle formulation, dose, replication, long-term safety or performance of unrelated products. The tested preparation should not be treated as interchangeable with every pumpkin seed oil blend.

Evidence for an ingredient is not automatically evidence for the finished product. Formula-specific claims require formula-specific testing.

What “DHT blocker” would imply

DHT is involved in androgenetic hair loss, a medical condition. Describing a cosmetic oil as a DHT blocker or as reversing follicle miniaturization moves beyond ordinary conditioning and scalp-care language. Such claims require appropriate product-specific evidence and regulatory review.

Consumers with patterned thinning should seek diagnosis rather than rely on botanical search terms.

How Vihira fits

Vihira 360° contains pumpkin seed oil as one part of a 15-ingredient cosmetic blend. We describe the formula as supporting scalp nourishment, softness, shine and breakage care. We do not claim that it blocks DHT, treats androgenetic alopecia or reproduces results from oral or unrelated topical studies.

Apply 8–10 drops, patch test first and use consistently only if the scalp remains comfortable.
